Sorry for the delay in my response. Health and family sometimes get in the way.

Anyway, I always start at someplace like the Tractorhouse to help see what a piece f eqipment is worth and maybe even list it with them. Local farm shows are great place to sell once you have an idea f what it is worth. Have you tried your local John Deere dealer for an estimate?

David,

A lot depends on condition, etc. The No 4 mower was quite popular and used on many farms. My grandfather was using one into the 40's when most of his neighbors had put the horses out to pasture. I note that one No 4 was sold last year for $209 but it was quite rusted out. You can see it at http://www.purplewave.com/cgi-bin/mnlist.cgi?100224A/7755.

I have a old John Deere Farm Implement I think that it is a Sickle to cut crops? It is all steal with steal wheels when sitting in seat has big metal box that reads "John Deere MOLINE IL, NO_4. On the right it has looks to be a Hand break. and another lever that looks like to set the highness of the Long Sickle. On the center of wheel has NO_4 BIG. other numbers that read Z412-H & Z501-H I think this was made in late 30's or 40's for my grandfather was farming here in the 40's am I am not sure about all this I have some one interested what is this worth. David wells

Hang onto it... it must have been around for some time because otherwise it would be that familiar green and yellow color instead.
