It is a 116 John Deere Riding Lawn Mower, it runs great but whenever i try to engage the PTO the blades won't spin. On rare occasions it will spin but if i try to mow grass the blades stop turning, the repairman told me that it was most likely the PTO Clutch. So like i said how hard is it to replace?
I am pretty sure, the belts are all there and i don't see any missing springs.

Prior to your starting to look for your tractor, make sure you understand what you really want. This may possibly seem too simple, however it is easy to become side tracked and buy something that you didn't start out to find. Only if you are able to make a detailed list of the requirements should you start your search. Don't forget to incorporate your technical and performance requirements in your listing. If you do not understand exactly what you are looking for, how are you going to determine where and how to look?

If you are seriously looking for an antique tractor, be careful and not allow enthusiasm run away with you. If you do, you may well be in difficulty before beginning your project. Restoring an antique tractor or other old farm implement is rewarding. But it's not an overnight project plus it can become costly quite rapidly. Parts for lots of old tractors are available however some are hard to find and can be on the spendy side. Factory original tires might be impossible to locate and reproduction tires can cost more than the tractor. You may find that instead of buying a project tractor, it would be just as gratifying to acquire one that somebody else has already put all of the effort, expense and time into. Chances are good that you could acquire it for less cash than the owner put into it, to say nothing of all of his labor.

Examine the tractor before you decide to get it. Is it easy to start and look, sound and feel right? Are the tires in good shape? Is there any kind of hydraulic seepage apparent? Do you observe any missing components or accessories? Be certain and give equally close an evaluation to any attachments. Finally, be sure that an antique tractor actually fulfills the requirements of the job you desire it for. It is difficult to go wrong with an antique tractor like a John Deere if you shop carefully.

Assuming you are talking about an electric clutch. It is held onto the crankshaft with a bolt in the center of it and some bolts holding it to a bracket. Not a hard job. The worst part is the price of a new one. There is an ajustment to the clutch. There are three nuts looking at it from the bottom. Near each nut is a slot. You adjust the nut so that the gap in the slot is .012″ with a feeler gauge. Are you sure that it is the clutch and not a bad belt or a missing spring on the tentioning pulley? If it is an electric clutch, they cost about $300.
