John Deere Tractors Garden tractor

When you start searching for a vintage or any kind of pre-owned tractor for your farm, there are a few factors you'll want to take into account. First, never become caught up from nostalgia. Buying and rejuvenating an old tractor may be a marvelous pleasing hobby to engage in. But it can also turn into a costly one.

why old John Deere green tractors are a better investment than new. My 20 year old John Deere 332 diesel garden tractor will last forever if I maintain it. John Deere mowers mow and mow.

Before beginning to search for your tractor, be certain that you know what you truly would like. This may possibly seem overly simple, nevertheless it is easy to get side tracked and buy something that you didn't start out to purchase. Only after you are able to make a detailed listing of the requirements should you start your search. Don't forget to incorporate your technical and performance requirements in your list. Unless you know just what you happen to be searching for, how are you going to decide where and how to look?

If you are seriously looking for a vintage tractor, be careful and not let enthusiasm run away with you. If you do, you might well be in trouble before beginning your project. Rebuilding an antique tractor or other old farm implement is gratifying. However it isn't an overnight project and it might become pricey quite swiftly. Parts for a lot of older tractors are available however some are hard to locate and may be on the spendy side. Factory original tires may be impossible to buy and reproduction tires may cost more than the tractor. You might find that rather than purchasing a project tractor, it would be just as satisfying to procure one that someone else has already put all of the effort, expense and time into. Chances are good that you could buy it for a lesser amount of money than the owner put into it, to say nothing of all of his labor.

Try the tractor before you get it. Do you find it easy to get started and appear, sound and feel right? Are the tires in good shape? Is there any kind of hydraulic leakage apparent? Do you notice any missing components or accessories? Be sure and give just as close an inspection to any attachments. Lastly, make sure that a vintage tractor really meets the needs of the task you want it for. It's tough to go wrong with an antique tractor like a John Deere if you search cautiously.

Beautiful machine, I took you advice in the vedio and bought a JD 318 withe the hydrolics etc… When I recieved it the snow blower was already attached so I have no idea how to install the mower. Would you do a vedio on that? Also I can’t find a manual for it without paying and arm and a leg.

Thanks for the advice I love my 318

The 332 is a real good tractor. The place I used to work at had one. Held up despite too many operators and the resulting abuse. I have an ’02 GX 325 and I love it. I’ve also got a ’74 Gravely L-8 2-wheeler.

JOKE: A Redneck blonde pushes her lawn tractor into a gas station. She tells the mechanic it died. After he works on it for a few minutes, it is idling smoothly.
She says, “What’s the story?”
He replies, “Just crap in the? carburetor”
She asks, “How often do I have to do that?”

Great Video. I agree with you. I bought a used JD 318 with 50″ mower, powerflow system, 4 way plow and chains. The thing was an absolute beast. Used it two years and sold it and got all my money back and bought a JD 455 diesel with bucket loader, 4 way plow, weight box, 54″ mower and powerflow. I can’t imagine ever needing more tractor than this for my yard. I could sell it tomorrow for about $1,000 more than I paid for it but I won’t because it’s a beast and way too much fun!

I bet he wouldn’t have taken it out in the rain if there had been thunder and lightning. How come the wheels are changed around to inside out? If you need to put air in the tires, won’t that be a little tough?
