Paint

My bf collects 1/16 scale toy tractors, farm implements, and trucks. He recently received a large amount of old toys from a farmer, and some are in fairly rough shape. Will redoing the paint and performing repairs on them reduce their value, or would it be worth restoring them. He keeps some and sells others…but is curious if he should leave them as they are or not.
They’re Tonka, Nylant, Ertle, and also Structo, I believe.
They’re from the 50′s and 60′s.

I can buy both. I am working on painting several two cylinder John Deere tractors. Which paint is better in quality? Lasts longest? More durable? Least resistant to fading?

Is there a website where I can figure out how much they are worth for free?
Also, what are some tips or advice in cleaning these tractors up without damaging the paint or anything?
Would love detailed advice because I am a novice. Thanks!

Packer Smacker asked:

I have just purchased a sears craftsman mts 5500. I compared it against a couple of different John Deere mowers. I believe that the competitors have caught up with JD. Yet the JD’s are still more expensive. I am wondering if people spending extra money for actual quality, perceived quality, or just simply the JD paint?
