Where can I find an antique John Deere tractor?
Prior to starting searching for a vintage or any kind of pre-owned tractor for use on your farm, there are several items you need to bear in mind. To begin with, try not to get carried away from nostalgia. Acquiring and rejuvenating a vintage tractor may be a great rewarding hobby to engage in. Nonetheless it may develop into a pricey one.
Before you begin looking for your tractor, make certain that you know what you actually would like. This might appear overly basic, nevertheless it is easy to get side tracked and buy something which you didn't start out to find. Only after you are able to put together an itemized listing of the requirements should you commence the hunt. Do not forget to include your technical and performance requirements in the listing. Unless you know just what you will be hunting for, how are you going to decide how and where to look?
If you are seriously searching for an antique tractor, be careful and not allow enthusiasm run away with you. If you do, you might well be in difficulty before you start your project. Restoring an antique tractor or other old farm implement is rewarding. Nevertheless it is not an overnight project and it can become pricey quite fast. Components for many older tractors are obtainable but some are challenging to locate and may be on the spendy side. Original tires may be impossible to locate and replica tires might cost more than your tractor. You may well find that rather than buying a project tractor, it would be just as satisfying to purchase one that someone else has previously put all of the effort, expense and time into. Chances are good that you could buy it for a lesser amount of money than the owner put into it, to say nothing about all of his labor.
Try the tractor before you decide to purchase it. Is it easy to start and look, sound and feel right? Are the tires in good shape? Is there any kind of hydraulic leakage evident? Can you observe any missing parts or equipment? Make certain and give just as close an examination to any attachments. Finally, be sure that a vintage tractor really fulfills the needs of the task you desire it for. It's difficult to go wrong with an antique tractor such as a John Deere if you search carefully.

Craigslist, eBay, or some of the JD forums that you’ll find online. Honestly, though, I think your best bet is to look around your local area or state and ask around. Look in the classifieds and network. You’ll want to take a look at the unit firsthand ideally, so that you know what kind of antique John Deere tractors you are buying.
