Vintage Farm Equipment And John Deere Tractors

why doesnt an old john deere tractor need a battery to start?

its a 4 cylinder john deere tractor with 80hp
when ever you put it on a downhill or you push it it starts right up without a battery how is dat possible

    Compression is built up . You pop the clutch and it starts. A manual shift car will do the same thing.

    because its a diesel and old ones don’t need an ignition system to start its compression ignition
